Just wanted to ventilate some cheerful sounds
on my old friend the Selmer Bundy.
Mine is a beaten up '68 tenor that has seen some use.
The action is high but smooth. The thing is a tank! Really.
And what a tone! Put a honking Otto Link SMT or a Berg
2 chamber on there and you're in Big Tone City!!!!
Now i don't wnt to hear any bundy beating again ever! You hear?!
These horns are going to be collectorsitems one day.
Pfffieuw! That's of my chest:D

Early Bundys are very similar to Bueschers...probably why you get such a great sound from yours.

I never really figured out if my '68 is an early or a latter Bundy.
When did they start changing the design?
It only shows BUNDY on the G# key. Does this mean it is an
early Bundy I?

A serial number would be helpful . I was talking to Bob Ackerman a couple of years ago and, out of the blue, he says "Those old Bundy's in the 500,000 range can really play." Turns out my Middle School has one and it really plays well - could use an overhaul but very gigable.

Check out Sonny Rollin's recording "On Impulse" to hear how good a Bundy can sound. Even the cover photo shows him playing it with a Berg. I'd love to know the story behind this. Horn needed repair or just liked the sound better? The liner photos show him arriving at the studio (in a Carmen Ghia, surprised he made it there) carrying two tenors. I'm also trying to figure out how you get two tenors and a guy the size of Sonny in a Carmen Ghia.

The serial number on the Bundy is 471628. Would this make it
an early one or a later type bundy?
