I actually really like the action on my 6M's left-hand pinky table, but I do find the C# a little tough to play. Seems like that would definately be easier to get at on the 26M (and I would gues 30M) pinky-cluster layout. However, the 26 & 30M clusters look like they're laid out at almost flatly parallell to the front of the horn -- something like a 45-degree difference between the 6M & 26M.

The 26M table looks flatter than on any other horn I've ever seen. It actually looks like I might have the opposite problem on the 26M I have on the 6M, & that the low C# would be a stretch!!

Any comments from players of the 26M & 30M on their facility operating the pinky-clusters & how they compare with the tables on the 6 & 10M horns?

I have problems with the Conn tables only when going from C# to B on the 6M and 30M. Sometimes I want to push "up and to the right" instead of straight across on the 6M, and the C# on the 30M seems to want to stay open when I go to B. (B to C# is no problem! It's easier to pull the pinkie accurately than push it. And I'm left handed!)

The angle of the table might be part of the 6M problem. On the 30M it is probably just too light a springing or a bad adjustment (funny how the pinkie touch heights are the least adjustable thing about the 30M).

Sometimes I think the table on my 6M would be perfect if it was angled farther in, maybe a little less than half-way between 6M position & 26M position.

Every heard of anyone having the position of their 6M table changed? I suppose it could take some minor bending. . . .

I find the 26M easier. I have big hands and my pinky just reaches around and beyond, completely missing the entire 6M G# key.

On the alto, my solution is to avoid 6Ms since I have a 26M
On the bass, I soldered a chunk of brass on extending the G# key to reach my finger. The low C# is still hard to reach.

Yes, on the 26M it's a longish reach to low Bb, and I suppose the small-handed among you might have a prob with that.
