Hi,
I recently purchased an old, beat up trombone at a garage sale for $5. No case. It is an American Triumph by Harry Pedler & Sons Elkhart, Ind. It has a king 28 mpc. What is the quality of this horn? Is it worth $50 more to get it in playing condition? Thanks.

Not much help with trombones, but I've got an American Triumph tenor sax made by Art Musical Instruments, Inc., F. A. Buescher, Pres., which is actually a Martin Handcraft stencil. Apparently Buescher and Pedler went into business together for a short time after Buescher left his own company. The tenor of mine is a great old horn and I'm glad I spent a few bucks to fix 'er up.

bargain! a friend of mine got a $150 trombone from a garage sale w/case, so yeah i say its worth it, in my opinion it really depends on how good you are, the best trombone in the world cant make a begginer sound good
