Now that the Samson Airline (ROAM) system has been out a while and in use by several of our SOTW pals, I was wondering if they are still loving it, or is the honeymoon over?

I have the chance to get one and an incredible discount (brand new) but still it's a good chunk of change.

Bill,
I love mine. Very easy to use. Never had a problem with reception or anything else. The thing that upset me about it was the clip eroded thru the laquer on my SBA Tenor.I put some soft stuff on it and the problem stopped. I don't know if it was the padding material or the glue they used to put it on but it kind of bummed me out.

Good to see you back... what kind of soft stuff? Isn't the clip the same as the AT clip? If you'vv ever seen the lacuqer on my SDA, any difference would probably not be noticable. ;-)

drop me a line when you get chance.

I bought one off eBay, and it crackled with random pops of static every ten or fifteen minutes on gigs. I sent it to Samson and they repaired it, but it still made the same noises when I got it back. I just sent it back to them again. If they can't make it work, I'm going to get rid of it. In speaking to the Samson guy on the phone, he hinted that UHF frequencies in the city may be messing it up.

Bill,
It's just this soft black padding. I got the one with the AMT mic. It was about 600 I think. I was told the AMT mic was much better than the other brand that it comes with.

Been using mine with the AMT mic for over 2 years. Still love it. No problems to report.

has anyone compared the ATpro35x and the ATM mic straight up and if so can they tell us the difference?

Thanks.

Hey Bill,

A few years ago I owned the more expensive ATM 35 mike which came with the normal Audio Technica Wireless system. I sent it back for financial reasons. I just bought the Airline system with the Pro 35 mike. Even though it's been awhile, I honestly don't think I could distingush the difference in the tone- both very clean and nice.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. I know Giles(another poster) uses the system, and I think its the Pro35x model, but haven't heard from him in a while.

Bill, sorry I never responded to you in detail.

I use the Airline System with the starndard AT 35, but with the dual diversity receiver. HAven't had any complaints from soundmen and the convinience of no belt pack when switching between horns is wonderful. I use in on SATB and it even sounds good on bari. Since I use in-ear monitors, I think I get a real good sense of what it sounds like.

BTW, when you gonna come sit it with us? You too, Mojo!

Have used mine for about 2 years and love it. No techincal problems and the sound is wonderful. Use it primarily on tenor, also on bari. I also use in-ear monitor but have also roamed the audience with it and have heard it from the speakers, without feedback.
