I recently started a thread about a home studio I'm in the process of building. I wanted to check in on the thread, so I did a search on the word studio. Lots of threads came up, but not mine. I thought maybe somehow it was deleted, so I manually searched for it, and found it in the SOTW Forum Lounge - http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=42737. The word studio is in the title and appears a number of times in the thread. Why didn't the search function find it??

I Just tried a search on the word studio and this thread was found but not the other one !!!!!!
But Frank you spelt studio as Studion try and edit it and see what happens.

I usually look in my subscribed threads if i am looking for a thread i have contributed to or started ( Its under quick links)

I noticed that I misspelled studio when I found the thread earlier. I wanted to edit, but strangely, there's no edit function there either. Regardless, it shouldn't matter, because studio is spelled correctly in the title, and in Jerry's post below mine. I also tried the "Search This Thread" function from within the thread, and it came up "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."

Strange.

Try a search for threads started by you.

I know how to find my thread. That wasn't the point. My point is, that if there are threads that I know contain a search word, and those threads don't come up in a search on those words, how can we rely on the search function to give us accurate results??

I've had that same problem--I was looking for threads on something having to do with flutes (I knew it was stuff that had to have been discussed thousands of times before), and I couldn't get the search function to hit anything relevant. I finally gave up and started scrolling through the threads, thinking that maybe this was too high-tech a feature for me to figure out.

I got yer back, dude.

Unfortunately, the search function can be squirrelly. There have been times when someone has posted a new thread that is completely redundant to something posted within days, sometimes hours, and I have done a search to expose the lazy offender for what he really is :D only to find that I can't find the previous threads, myself, no matter what I do. 8-)

All I can say is that Harri and the new tech are working this issue. We need to have a good search functionality so that we can use SOTW as a research tool.
