I'd like to rant/rave/poke fun at the altissimo chart on saxgourmet's website. Have any of ya'll "seen" it? Is this an exercise in Zen, or what? :) It's a little like reading flies/fly s*it on a wall; everytime I think I'm reading it right it seems like something "moves" or that I'm looking at a different fingering combination than before.
Man!
Well, it makes you think, anyhow. :D

Most of Steve's fingerings in that chart are represented in this site, which is much easier on the eyes (his fingerings have an "SG" by them):

(but yeah, the saxgourmet chart needs a better scan...)

If you focus on the center of it, the image will emerge...

Yeah Max, I'm aware of that site. It is excellent; but many of those fingerings don't work on my horn/mpc combo and I was looking for more when I got physiqued(sp) out looking at saxgourmet's.

If you focus on the center of it, the image will emerge... :dazed:

Altissimo notes vary from horn to horn. It is your job to play which ones that work best that you can hit consistently and play in a scale. I practice them on the tenor usually then try to make the fingerings work for alto and bari. Soprano, I think that is more of a concept, with a very directed, controlled air column. The wfg.woodwinds.org site is a very good one for fingerings of all instruments. I have printed off lots of pages from that site. My favorite fingering charts are the ones that try to represent a layout of the instrument with each fingering. I find them the easiest and quickest to read.
