Hey all.
I'm playing on a Dynasty marching trombone (Three valve low brass, visit DEGmusic.com) and I was wondering which silent brass mute would fit it. The instrument's bore is closer to a baritone than trombone, but I've noticed there is no silent brass mute for baritone, I was thinking of getting the euphonium mute but I just want to be sure.
Thanks,
BrianL
what's the bore size and bell size?
it may be similar to a large bore or bass trombone, which i believe use the trombone mute
i answered my own question
website says .500 and 8.5 bell
when you said baritone and euph i was thinking it was a larger bore. the .500 is like, the standard student and small bore bone size. DEFINATELY get the TROMBONE mute. the euphonium mute will be HUGE in comparision.
plus, trombone is cylindrical, euphonium is conical, so there's a big difference in bell sizes (and the mutes).

If it is of any use to you (or someone else, for that matter). I tried to play a trumpet about five years ago and bought a Yamaha Silent Brass system on eBay (I had GAS in those days too).
The microphoned mute had been modified by the owner (an acoustic engineer) to lessen the amount of back pressure without changing the acoustic properties of the mute. The modification looked easy (a series of very small holes set back on the perimeter). Worked very well. He said that the holes could not have burrs, for some reason.
