I just bought a tenor Signet (The Selmer Company) with a mouthpiece Selmer S 80. I use Rico Royal reeds number 2 or Plasticover 1 1/2, but is very difficult to play the middle D because it sounds like a middle A.... !!!How can I resolve this? :?

Albert - make sure that your left hand third finger is not late closing the key if you approach the D2 from any other note (especially from lower or from above A2).
On your saxopohone are two octave vents - one on the neck (that opens from A2 and above notes) and one on the body (that opens from D2 to G#2). If your third finger of the left hand is late the octave vent keys will bounce and give you an A2.

The other possibility is "voicing". Part of the Rascher overtone exercises is to play low D1 and without changing fingers or using octave key and then play D1, D2, A2, D3, F#3, A3 etc -just by changes in the oral cavity/vocal tract..

Check the left hand 3rd finger first and let us know what happens. :D
