Go to http://www.saxpics.com/the_gallery/Leblanc/Vito/ and compare pics, but I'm afraid there are no serial number charts. My Vito dates around 1950, but no charts have been helpful. Mine is pictured at http://www.angelfire.com/freak/dafrootloop/vs_pics.html
Yours is probably similar to the one Sax Pics lists under Johnny Hodges.

And go to http://www.gleblanc.com and on the lower-right hand corner click on "Serial Number Inquiries". I haven't been able to get a response out of them, but we Vito owners need to rally and annoy the crap out of that company to get responses. Good luck.

I just got #2820AB it's a Kenosha Wisc. relac'd Alto, a very interesting Horn indeed. I just unpacked it from ebay needs to go to the doc, coupla leaks..pads look good, horn looks like new..a beautiful specimen. Weighs a ton, looks like real pearls all over it, smooth action, several neat adjustment mechanisms, this is a cool horn. Can't wait to play it..

The Kenosha, Wis. Vito I got off ebay and reconditioned has such a nice vintage alto sound and smooth key action that I changed my plans to resell it. Interestingly it has an o-ring inside the top of the body where the neck seats. I'm surprised there is not more imfo on these. I have no idea what year it was built, but I love it. I would add a couple of pics here but I'm not sure how.

Well..I think the mystery is starting to unravel. Leblanc was clueless when I talked to them about the serial numbers. It was like: "When you find out-let us know." Then I found a couple of altos on ebay exactly like my Kenosha, Vito and guess what they are? CONNS! I've never read anywhere that Conn built the Kenosha Vitos but these horns are spitting images of each other! see: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64454&item=7313982081&rd=1 You will see a Kenosha, Wis. Vito stamped as a Conn USA Shooting Star.

Well $40. later, the horn is a killer..paid less for the Kenosha Vito Alto than I paid for my DG mpc..What year is this thing..??
I love it, a worthy Bar/back-up axe to spare the good horns for the real gigs..

I have a Vito sax my dad purchased for me in (I believe) 1960 when my high school band director switched me from clarinet to alto. It has the same markings but is serial V2630. Then went to bari and then to tenor. Interestingly the mouthpiece is a Brillhart tonelin 3. Always thought that this mouthpiece was junk. Recently learned otherwise.

I just picked up the sax again after years of drums and Hammond organ.

This is probably the most useful list around:

http://www.doctorsax.biz/vito_ser_nos.htmAnd the tech who originated and maintains that list not only monitors this forum, but also is currently refurbishing my latest acquisition, a French-made Vito Rationale System alto. I have another French-made Vito "Special" alto I bought from him and have the same regard for it as Cash had for his, if not more.

Yes, I've just gone back to my sixties Vito/Beaugnier tenor in preference to my eighties Yanagisawa. The Vito requires a bit more attention intonation wise, but overall I find it a nicer horn to play. To be fair it should be mentioned that the setup of the Yani probably needs a bit more tweaking.
