There is a bass sax being sold by a musician around me. It is a buescher serial number 250,000 dating it to about 1929. From what I have been looking up, It should have the "roar" and "thunder" of vintage bueschers and conns. It was probably bare brass then laquered at a later time. The laquer is about 50-60% in tact. The bass is keyed to high Eb. The asking price is 5000$, including a mouthpeice, origional case, and a stand. Is this a fair price?? if not, how much would be a good deal? :? any information would be great! thanks!:)

If it plays OK now, the price sounds good to me.

The price is very good! Have fun with it and try to keep enough spare cash to get it fixed properly, these big saxes always have dent and often as not bent body problems.
