Has anyone played one, seen one up close? Opinions?

Hi Randall,

I own and play one. My Conn 25M is an earlier model, ie the
neck is plain & only has one neck receiver screw..

The latest Conn 25M's have a "ribbed design neck " & different receiver for the neck. It makes the sax appear more eloquent. It also has two neck screws vs one is
typical of upper line saxes. The ligature fitting is also
incorporated into the receiver screws. As for sound, mine
seems to play/sound same as the newer neck model.

I got a great deal on mine at Whipkey's Music in Georgia.

It's basically an "Intermediate" horn, perhaps low end advanced. Supposedly its bore resembles the earlier 6M
saxes that Conn was famous for.

Except for some tarnish on my neck tenon, the finish is good.

It plays well in all registers.

Being partial to Conns, for the money I did well.

Many music stores will let you trial a sax for 30 days.

Keep this in mind. Tough choices out there with all the brands- makes and prices of saxes.
