I am consdering buying a R&C Curved soprano. They have a lot of different models, and finishes. What are your experiences with them? I dont know if i should go for an R&C or a vintage conn or buescher. Any opinions or help would be great. Thanks:)

I've owned three R&C saxophones, but not a curvy. All were really nice horns.
I've owned and played numerous Conn and Buescher sopranos, including curvies. I still own a modern curved sop (Yanagisawa SC902).
Some folks love their vintage curvies, but the intonation on a Conn I once owned was POOR. Plus, the right-side bell pad intereferred with my right fingers.
All saxophones vary, even among similar models, so you may want to try it before you buy it.
Personally, I'd go for the modern curvy, in your case, the R&C - better intonation, better ergonomics. DAVE

I used to own an R&C R1 Jazz curved soprano, it is a beautiful horn, and the tone is very complex, colorful... It's one of the best soprano out there, a long with Yani and Yamaha... Highly recommended.

I have one and I love it. R1 Jazz curved in silver. It is the best soprano I have ever played and I love hearing so much better than my straight yamaha I used to play. The sound is complex and not too bright. Mine sees action every Sunday in church and on many local gigs.
You won't be disappointed.
That is the finish I love... :) (look at the bottom of the page)

It plays louder and warmer than any other modern soprano saxophone I tried including my Yamaha 62. Intonation and mechanics on vintage sops are the real problems.

Kenny.Beautiful is an understatement - take a look at it here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7382124885&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT)!

ouchhh... bring back memories :( I'm back to playing now (see other thread), but I really misses the Ref. 54 and this R&C R1 Jazz, both with lots of customized features...

Qasmom -
If your budget allows, go for an RC curvy, mate! You've read statements from Dave, Kenny, and other guys who have owned and played RC horns. In the case of Borgani, RC's Italian counterpart, the curvy is a one-piece horn, i.e., the neck is not detachable.
Like Borgani, RC is not one of the big fours because, I think, not many players can afford them. From what I have read, the Italians have got the art of making clarinets and saxophones.
I'm saving money to get an RC curvy someday soon (with "Someday My Prince Will Come" in the background)!
P.S. Kenny, it is good to hear you are back to playing now.
And Qasmom, Dave is an OLD sop hand in this forum. I'd take his advice seriously.
