Is this similar to an 8xx bari or 5xx? The lister doesn't include the information in the auction.
Thanks.

It's a 593. It says in the description.

Ah I just ran right over that reading the description.
Well now that I know that it leads to a larger question as I don't know much about Jupiter's various horn series.
They have the 8xx Artist Series and the 5xx these days. Are these the same horn in construction? I haven't seen many noteable differences besides finish.
This is a cool lookin' bari. I love all silver/nickel/sterling horns. :) And it looks like it's well taken care of.

There's actually a 900 Series as well. I've just gotten a 900 bari, and I'll be putting my 800 series (Artist model) bari on sale soon.

Can you give me a quick rundown on the differences between the 5xx, 8xx, and 9xx series horns?

So it looks to me that the 593 and 893 bari are basically the same horn. Just a different neck, finish, and case on the artist series 893. Oh and the 893 has a high F# and front F. Is that your understanding Merlin, that they are basically the same horn mechanically?
What's the 9xx series bring to the table? I don't see any specs on their web site.
Thanks.

The 593 and 893 are similar in mechanics AFAICT. My 800 bari is older, so it does not have a Hi F#.
The 900 has a new low C key arrangement with double arms. They've definitely made some improvements to upper register tuning and overall response too.

Well I'm thinking pretty seriously about getting this bari. I'm about to talk to the tech that worked it over last. I think it's only about a 2 years old and seems to have been treated well. The only thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger is there is a new Cannonball Big Bell Stone Series bari on ebay right now. I just have no idea how high she'll go. Might reach as high as $2,000....if that's the case I think I'm out of luck.
