B & S saxophones

I had posted this question right before the meltdown, hope someone can help. What sound qualities does the sand finish give the horn compared to other finishes? Is B&S/VMI trying to expand their dealers in the US? These horns do seem hard to come by?

i recently had the opportunity to test 2 B&S saxophones among Others (keilwerth sx 90, selemer sa II and sa III, and a Ymaha 82Z).
The 2 B&S i tested were the B&S 2001 black nickel alto and the B&S Medusa sandfinish alto. The B&S Medusa sandfinish alto not only looked extraordinary good but its sound could only rivaled by the selmer sa III.
The B&S 2001 had a response problem in the low register, i couldn't figure out why.
