My favorite old tenor player: John Coltrane. I really enjoy his sound and his improvised solos. You listen to his music and it just makes you feel good.

New tenor players: It's hard to choose just one but here goes: Michael Brecker because his music is fun to listen to and he's got great technique. (I love Delta City Blues). George Shelby because I really dig his tone. You've got to hear this guy. His stuff doesn't seem too technically challenging, but it's all the sound, man. Ravi Coltrane because the guy's got chops and super-fast fingers. He gets so into what he does and hearing him live in concert would have to have been one of the awesomest experiences I've had so far. I don't think I've ever heard anyone play so fast.
