It's cheap and not too exciting. But I guess who cares for marching band. Check out the search using the string 'conn selmer prelude' and you will find posts like this (http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=40748&highlight=%22conn+selmer+prelude%22).
By the way, I'm gonna move this to the Selmer folder.

I would look for a nice used Yamaha 23 or a Jupiter first.

If it's for marching band, I would go on ebay and buy one of these for about $200. These far east stencils all look the same. This new Conn Prelude looks like one of those with an inflated price tag for the name that is stamped on it. For using it for marching band and nothing else, that is what I would do. I would save my other horns for everything else.

Don't buy a new Conn-Selmer product! Here's why:

My wife has Conn Selmer Prelude but a tenor. Its great for the money, and certainly plays well enough. Only had it for 4 months but played for an hour everyday and no signs of bending keys or movement where there shouldn't be movement.
The only thing she had a problem with is while packing it away she hit the neck and the hole wouldn't close up properly. but it was a 20 second fix so no big problems.
She certainly enjoys it. I suppose they might not be as consistently good as a brand but hers is great.
