does anyone have any suggestions on finding a teacher?

Ask around. Talk to your school band teachers. Check out the university music scene. Go to a music store and describe what you want to learn (classic, rock, jazz, or what). Most qualified instructors do the first lesson for free so you can check out whether you and your instructor are a good match. Good luck with that.
