I want to buy a Selmer sa III alto. I am not quite sure what is a good mouthpiece for this Sax especially for high levels of rock and funk tunes?

I have a III and it's really bright.I tried Dukoffs,Baris,Links and didn't like 'em.I personally got a smokey fusion sound out of a Meyer Richie Cole 5M and I also liked the SR Legend but it cost a lot more than the Meyer. It's all personal choice and since you will be mic'd you dont have to use metal..........Experiment and try as many as possible

Richie Cole is a standard model (e.g. saxophones.co.uk). Maybe also try a Vandoren V16 or a Beechler.

Standard Meyer 5 should be plenty bright enough for rock music, especially on the new Selmers, which lean toward this type of projection anyhow. The problem is finding a reed to match. Best bet is a RJS 3soft or vandoren java 3.

I use a Vandoren V16 A7 on my Series III. It plays very nice, quite smooth. I'm considering switching to a Jody Jazz, but haven't quite decided yet. However, the V16 is a really good pick for the Series III.
