Hi guys,

I've been playing the tenor sax for well over 5 years now at school bands and such - not a beginner, but I won't call myself a professional either. For the first time, however, I'm looking to buy my own saxophone.

I live in Toronto, and there really isn't much competition here - the cheapest sax around town was a Jupiter 787 at $1195. Whoh! Even Montreal has better prices.

I went to look on eBay just the other day and there was a Selmer TS700 offered for $569 at a Buy-It-Now price! It was the least expensive new tenor saxophone I saw on eBay, and I'm really attracted to buying it. I've done some research, knowing that it's a Made in China and from the bottom-end of Selmer's lines, but what other concerns should I be aware of before buying this saxophone?

Likewise, would you be able to recommend me anything along my budget? Thanks.

I would pass on that one. Look at Kessler's ad here at SOTW as he has some good lower priced horns that are sold by a real sax dealer and not an internet seller as such.
