Just adding another Misc. Modern Saxophone to the list here. They've been making stencil saxes under the name Vespro, Milwaukee, and have even done work for Winston, L.A. Sax and B&S!!! There currently isn't a U.S. distributor, but from what I gather, they're planning on manufacturing their first line of "Pro" saxes (currently, the Century saxes are just somewhat cheap Selmer Series II clones!).

I've tried some of their saxes though, including solid copper alto and tenor, solid phosphor bronze alto and tenor, 85% copper alto, and white bronze alto. I've been working with them for about a year on improving their saxes and they're coming along nicely!

Oh, they're also working with rolled tone holes, large bells, etc... and we've been working on new key designs, bore sizes and some other things I can't really bring up now. So maybe hold off on buying a Vespro or Milwaukee 'till you can try out a Century (they might be changing their name for the pro-line). Rondo Music in New Jersey has been selling most of the prototypes. And as far as I know, Century doesn't have their website up yet.

So there's a modern sax post! :) So modern that they're not yet available in the U.S.!!! :(

Well, I'm a student that plays a Buffet S1 tenor and I tried a Century alto (sorry, I don't know the model, I can only that is the cheapest).
I tried this sax and it works fine, intonation, mechanical, etc.

I think it's good for beginners like my friend.

P.D. I came from Europe, Spain

Well, I dropped my involvement w/Century over the last few months. Nothing's happening as far as I can tell. I think there might be some issues w/stock holders or something. Basically, this is what's goin' on... whatever you would expect to see in a Century, you'll probably see in Milwaukee saxes and Vespro, Earlham and some of the student features combined w/big bell, etc. stuff on the E.M. Winston. You'll be seeing phosphor bronze and copper saxes (solid) with the big bell design. So the final verdict appears to be that Century's still focused on making improvements on everyone elses' saxes, not working on creating a pro model Century. Sorry...

Hi,
I was searching information on my sax. I actually bought it around 15 years ago, and was already a used one :) I didn't use it up to 1 year ago, when I decided to restart playing.
I think it's not great, and I'm planning to buy a new one but I would like to know your opinion on this Century brand. Also, is it possible to track somehow when it was born based on the serial number? It has a serial number engraved on it saying: N31631
