I have this Bundy Serial #85XXX According to the serial number charts I find on the web it would be manufactured in 1921. But this was long before Selmer acquired the Bundy
Bundy-H&A Selmer on the bell
When did Selmer start putting their name on the bell?
Anyone have any idea of the date of manufacture of this horn.

Does anyone know if Selmer started a new serial number system when they started putting their name on the horn. A 5 digit number must have been early on in the sequence. It's a great alto It seems to have some parts that look like Buesher.

Henri and his brother Alexandre had a deal with Alexandre starting the US branch as he played clarinet here. As far as the Bundy name, it appeared sometime after George Bundy (also a clarinetist) bought the company. I doubt that serial number is from the 20s. I would guess the 40s or 50s but only a guess.

I also doubt the date would be in the 20's. When I bought the sax at a music store in Louisville KY in the late 90's I was told that they thought it was a mid 50's sax but they weren't sure. I want to sell the sax but I'd like some accurate info to pass along to the prospective buyer.
