Does anyone here know much about this model? Or, should I have posted this in the Yanagisawa thread?

Yes.
The "eBay Experiences" topic is essentially for experiences with eBay. While someone may see your post there, you'll have far more luck and get more info on yanis here.
the Serial # shows it as made sometime in 1983 and as such it is probably part of their 800 Model series.
I have a few doubts that it was a "top pro" model which would have been something like a derivative of the 880. It was more likely a entry level pro model judging by the lack of double arm braces on the B & Bb keys, unless I'm mistaken and double braces were a feature introduced later on the premuim 8XX models. My 1986 manufactured 880 alto has such a feature. That silver Yani does appear to have ribbed construction which tends to be a feature of premium horns OTOH. My 880 is an excellent horn with noticably comfortable and fluid keywork and a rich somewhat dark tone on an S*80 mpc. I'd imagine that would be a bit edgier and bright given it's silver construction as well as an excellent horn if it's been well maintained. Yanis from that era were somewhat soft in the metal afterall...

I agree, almost certainly a 800 or 900 - the entry level Yani, which is a semi-pro model. I paid $1300 for a mint one year old T901S, which is the current equivalent, i think the Buy it Now price is a bit high on the horn on ebay unless it is absolutely spotless. Still, its probably a nice horn, my daughter's T901S is very very similar to my Mark VI, albeit not quite as solidly engineered as the 880/990/991 series which are their top models.

It has an older style left pinky cluster than I have seen on the 800 series horns.
