I just realised that is a Super Balance Action (SBA) I linked you to, not a Balanced Action. (BA).
I know the BA's still fetch alot, $3500.00 and up. Thats being conservative.

ThanksIn the 1940's, both Balanced Actions (1936-1947) and Super Balanced Actions (1948-1953) were made. "Super Action" should be referring to Super Balanced Action models which bring a very tidy sum on eBay and here on SOTW, depending on condition, possibly in excess of $4,000 - $5,000. At least that's my best estimate, FWIW.

Check eBay for similar horns in like condition. That's a good read of current market value. $100-300.

There was never a 'Super Balanced Action'. It was the 'Super Action'. The next model to bear a similar name was the 'Super Action 80'.

Because, if you do an online search for "Super Balanced Action" you get several hits on pages either describing, or selling, Selmer SBA saxes. Even saxpics has a section on SBA's and, although the title of the main page places "Balanced" in parentheses, the rest of the article freely uses the SBA abbreviation to refer to that category of Selmer horns. Very interesting.

My guess is that people started calling the Super Action the Super Balanced Action sometime shortly after Selmer introduced the Super Action 80. I don't ever recall hearing the term "Super Balanced Action" until the mid-1980's.

A very nice and newly overhauled Silver one sold at my local shop recently for $4000; the owner is very happy.

I understand players started calling it the 'Super Balanced Action' immediately because it was an improved 'Balanced Action'. Regardless, Selmer termed it the 'Super Action'. The sax was named correctly in the original post, because that's what is engraved on it. I'm aware that everybody and his brother calls it the 'Super Balanced Action', but that don't make it right. In any case, it's a dam nice horn.
