What Vandoren reed do you think is best or find works best for you?
I'm using Trad. 2.5s at the moment ..... I'm a beginner (2years) but looking for a change. I play classical and jazz.

I've played each of these cuts, and they all have different playing characteristics. It all comes down to personal preference, but for a beginner looking for a change from Traditionals, try the Java in a 2.5 or 3.

im a fan of the traditionals...im using 3's and 3.5's and they giv a very nice classical tone aswell as not a bad jazz tone. but i think its the mouthpiece that ultimately gives the tone quality....as long as the reed vibrates aye? :P

I use both the JAVA 3 1/2's and V16 3 1/2's. When I want a brighter, more open tone, I use the JAVA. When I want a darker, more "ominous" tone, I choose the V16. Both have their strong traits, but I find myself playing more on the JAVA's than anything else, mostly because I play on a darker horn with a Rovner Dark ligature. It could all change after I receive my new sax, but I don't know. I'll let you know my opinion of other reeds as I try more.

I am using a Java #2 on a Yamaha 7CM for my Conn alto. Sound is bright and very powerful.

Stick with the traditional cut for classical. And then for jazz, just get a few of each of the other three options and try them all out yourself and see what you prefer. They're all good.
