On the Sonny Rollins session that includes the tune "Tenor Conclave," I believe there are four tenor players. I think two of them are Rollins and Hank Mobley. Does anyone know the names of the four guys for sure, and their solo order? Thanks.

I think "Tenor Conclave" is from one of Mobley's sessions. It's Hank Mobley, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn and Coltrane in that order I think.

The jazz composition Tenor conclave was composed by Hank Mobleyin 1956,and based on I got Rhythm Changes. It was premered on Hanks Prestige release of the same name ( Prestige hi-fi LP 7074)featuring Hank Mobley on the intro, followed by John Coltrane, Zoot Sims and Al Cohn.
Sorry, Sonny Rollin's is not on this date.
The ensemble plays for 16 bars and solos on the bridge in the same order as intro, followed by an interlude, then, Mobley, Sims, Cohn, and Coltrane take 3 choruses each, Red Garland 2, Paul Chambers 2 (bowed), Art Taylor not quite 1, next a chorus of fours between Mobley and Coltrane and one chorus of fours between Cohn and Sims, then full ensemble on the out chorus with solos on the bridge in the same order as the opening, ending with the interlude.
All in all one of the simply greastest albums of all time, I would have it with me if I was ever stranded on a desert island! The beautiful thing, according to the album notes by Ira Gitler, is that, "by no means what so ever was this a cutting session, but each of the four showed admiration for the other three".
I just love this Album! Tenor Heaven!
