Hey everyone. Right now it looks like I'll be taking the path of a repair tech by day and musical pit orchestra member by night. Bari is my main axe, so that means reed 5. As of now, I play bari, bass [sax], some bassoon, clarinet, bass clarinet, and some flute. I'm working up my ability on those instruments at the moment, but if i hope to become a competent reed 5 player what other instruments should I learn?
Thanks!

Sounds like you have what you need to cover 90% of Reed 5 books; maybe focus on strengthening your bassoon and flute chops.
Try here to see what other instruments might be useful:

Does anyone sell individual parts to musicals? It would be cool to get a couple reed books just to play through them.

Most shows ive played in have had reed 5 as being any combination of clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, bari sax...so you should be fine :D

The books are typically available by rental only. I expect most publishers will not rent out single books--you will probably have to rent the whole show (scripts and all).
