I found King's Super 20,tenorsax s/n. 610xxx, price would be $2200.
How i now from the s/n when this sax was built and if the condition is good, would you think that the price is ok ?

I did not found anything with the search..

Thats most probably a mid 70's horn without the under/over slung neck octave key. Seems a bit pricey but i'm not too sure on late king models

In perfect condition, I would put the value at $1300-1500. Knock of $200-300 for cosmetically challenged, same if playing condition challenged. You can often buy late S20s that need an overhaul for $700-800. These horns have bodies with drawn toneholes that were imported from Japan. They are really unrelated to the pre 510K S20s...more like Yamaha YTS4x horns.

You would be much better off buying an old King Cleveland (check out Keith's recent experience in the King area of manufacturer's

I thought they might be a buy in type body but was unsure of from where.SHMUELTOSEF is correct about the older kings and they are damn cheap

Yeah, that's way too much for that series. It's at the end of the production run when the s20 was going belly up.

If you do decide to buy it (at a much discounted price), make sure you play test it and compare it.

I also agree with the old Cleveland's. Market priced as a second hand horn, most are probably great players.

I have an Eastlake Super 20 made in 1976-576xxx Bought in 77. It has Brazed tone holes and a Brass underslung neck (I use a Gloger Silver on it).
I recently played a Silversonic that was an over the Top SML neck version (King distributed SML horns under the Marigaux name, and obviously had them build necks for late 20's-Look at the brace). It was a late 500xxx serial and it too had Brazed tone holes...So where the drawn hole Japanese bodies start to happen is a bit murky-Don't assume that because it's after 510xxx that it will be a Japanese Tube with SML neck
