I have been shopping for a Tenor, and ran across the Artist 869SG in a local music store so I tried it out. I don't think I every played anything that was so smooth sounding. The store had a price on it that was almost $200 cheaper than WWBW, which made it very tempting. There was one problem which steared me away from it. Ever since reading a post by a technician about six months ago, I check the condition of the tone holes on instruments I am intersted in. The tone holes had sharp little burrs on them. They litterally cut into my fingers as I ran them around the rim. It was that way on all the holes, not just a couple. Any one else notice this on their horns? It can't be good for the life of the pads. Needless to say, I didn't purchase it.

I guess I messed up on the model. It was the 889SG tenor that I played. I played a 25th anniversary eddition at a different strore last night, the holes on it were finished very nicely, so maybe the other one was a fluke. The one I tried came with two different necks, the original solid silver, and then a silver plated brass one. The brass one was much thinner metal and had a brighter sound. It played very well, but I didn't get it because it wasn't the sound I was looking for. However, If anyone is looking for a good deal, Chuck Levin's Washington Music is selling it for $1295. WWBW has a price of $1795 on it, and the store I checked out last week was $1600. With a price like that I was very tempted.

i tested that one not long ago and i had a good feel around the horn as you do, and felt nothing wrong. Jupiter are quality horns and there are rarely anything wrong with them. I too enjoyed the sound that it made and am seriously considering purchasing one.
My two cents,

i just recently got one of these with the hand hammered neck and i think its great in every way except lacking the soulful sound of a classic selmer
I have the tenor also, and frankly, got rid of my Selmer.
Overrated, and did not produce the sound that the Jupiter does.
The full sound, and bright sound can be produced in any octave.
Not so with my Selmer. The high end was very dull, and boring......
So, GREAT CHOICE, and Great horn.
I am going to start looking for the 869 Alto when the funds are
available.
