Just a quick note to anyone out there thinking about getting a keyboard. I've been looking and pricing some of them for quite a while. I just got the Music 1 2 3 catalog in the mail listing the Yamaha P60 at $449.00 - the first time I've ever seen them listed under $599. Music 1 2 3 may not have any stock (I didn't bother checking) but many of the Musicians Friend stores and Guitar Center stores carry these, have a few in stock, and will price match. So if you've been looking to get a nice weighted-action keyboard and don't want something with all sorts of crazy voices you won't use anyway, you might want to check into this.

I was interested in a P90. Do you know what the differences are??

It has more voices, is more user-friendly in that it has a more comprehensive control panel built in, and it is 64 note polyphony as opposed to the P60's 32 note.
The P90 also has a list price over $1200.00 and a street price of about $1000.00 new right now. If you are an experienced piano/ keyboard player the upgrades might be worth the price difference but (IMO) for the vast majority of doublers out there the P60 at $449 is a much better deal if you can get it.
YMMV

For the price of a P90, you could pick up a used Motif 7, which is a far more versatile keyboard. Even though it's been somewhat superceded by the Motif ES, the original Motif is still a very potent keyboard.

If you just want generic sounds and want to save some bucks the Alesis QS series is more than capable. It's easy to navigate too, better than many in a live setting. Since keys are my main instrument I'm rather picky and I don't own one, but I play my friend's QS8 in our live jam sessions and it's perfectly suited for doing the grunt standard fare sounds, mostly pianos and organs, while I have two synths for more synth sounds, the extreme other end with the nord and a karma. I wouldn't take it into a studio but it's great for performance.
