Last night my band was doing a Labatts party with blues band from Rochester. We set up at opposite ends of the stage and alternated sets. The job went very well. At the end of the night we did a blues jam on the other band's stage. The other band had a tenor player and a keyboard player who doubles on tenor. We use a trumpet, trombone, and me on tenor.
I already knew one of the other tenor players but just met for the first time the other player. He is outstanding! I looked around and realised that we we were all playing very classic horns. On man had an older Mark VI, On had an Conn 10M in wonderful condition and I had my King Super 20. Just playing with the other guys was great fun. The horn thing was just a small observation for this group. It is great to see that these horns are being used on a daily basis by working players.
