Are there any sound files of dixie on the tenor?
For dixie-trad evolving to swing, check out Bud Freeman.
Er.. Bechet?
The soprano counts as a tenor surely.

Sinebar: Your post was a bit confusing - that's why I didn't reply until now.
Are you asking about the tune DIXIE being played on tenor, or are you asking about Dixieland music on tenor?
More clarification may help us answer your question.
The tune DIXIE? I have no idea.
Dixieland-style music on tenor . . . Coleman Hawkins from the late '20's with Fletcher Henderson or The Mound City Blue Blowers. Also Bud Freeman (as mentioned), Frankie Trumbauer (C-Melody tenor) with Bix Beiderbecke and Paul Whiteman; Charquet and Co. (France); Hot Antic Jazz Band (France); Portena Jazz Band (Argentina) all had really hot tenor players. DAVE

Just learn to play it. It's very remedial.

I didn't understand, either...but I'm a bit obtuse most days ;-)

You ain't just whistling "Dixie!"
Just watch "The Dukes of Hazzard!" In between shots of Daisy, you might hear the song played by "The General Lee!"
Maybe I missed the question too, Sinebar. Were you planning to paint a Union Jack on the bell of your Mark VI Tenor?

I imagined on first looking that sinebar wanted examples of Dixieland music on tenr, but then I thought maybe it's the tune Dixie. I still don't know.

All the nastiness, and references to it, have been cleaned out of this thread.
There was a turd-flinging contest. One landed in the bell of a mods saxophone.
No. You've not been censored. I've only "cleaned" the thread by removing 1 comment that was undesired and well, by doing so I had to remove all other coments that were related to that first comment to keep the thread coherent - Don't take that personally :)

I understand what you did; I would have done the same.
But because Pete twice insisted very strongly to have his post restored, I did it. (His reply was pertinent to the subject, anyway.)
I am really sorry that I had to walk over you in this, Kim. It won't get repeated.

Kim & Harri,
It did get out of hand. My appologies for the trouble.
Where is sinebar in all this? He started it!!! Perhaps he has seceded. ;)

Kim also apparently didn't like my M60 picture.
Just trying to help, Ma'am.
Kim also apparently didn't like my M60 picture.
No Marty, I kept your picture in the Admin Lounge so I can keep it to myself and look at it everytime I want while thinking to myself : "I hate him, I hate, him, I hate him!!!" until I make up my mind to finally print it, then frame it, then put it on my wall and then play darts with it ;) ;) ;)
but I like the picture, you're very photgenic :)
