Ok , now I understand that a bassoon mouthpiece may help for a doubler, but please dont but into it. Bassoon mouthpieces change tone, and if your looking yo playing seriously, NO COLLEGE/BAND will accept a bassoonist playing on a mouthpiece as opposed to a reed. You don't need to make your own at first, but you should learn how to fix reeds as fast as possible, and most desireably learning from a teacher. You will need a mandrel, plate, and reedknives to do so, and a good reed to fix is a Meason, which can be found on WWBW. Medium is preffered by most.

I was just pointing out that the things are pointless.

It's just a good thing that these weren't available when I was in high school. I'd have bought one in a heartbeat! I had so much trouble with reeds that I took lessons just to learn to tune reeds to my taste.

However, I'm glad they weren't available back then...it taught me the right way to play a bassoon.

Thanks for letting us know your opinion of them:)
