He uses a lot of chin... it works for him but it's best to avoid using too much chin! No offense to Dave but I don't think he was ever concerned with embouchure. He was just interested in pursuing his individual R&B sound and style, and he certainly got there 8)

Sanborn's embouchure was a result of the difficulty he had holding the sax after having polio as a child.

What is wrong with just playing the horn and listening to the tone and adjusting 'till you like sound, and not worrying about what your embrochure looks like?

David also tends to play out of the side of his mouth, which is a bad habit as well. This tends to make the support around the entire embouchure uneven.

Everyone's anatomy is different. Maybe David's dental structure makes that work for him. Don't get hung up on it.

It would be quite hard for me to get "hung up" on it, as I positively can't stand his playing. That is my opinion, so those of you who like him, more power to you.

I don't understand why people want to make themselves to a copy of their hero's. If you like 'em, you better can listen to the original. If you want to play music, be yourselve and develop your own, unique sound.

Every human is made only once (even twins) !

I believe him playing out the side of his mouth has to do with the polio.
