View Full Version : Dearman sax - what is it?
I've borrowed an old tenor sax - a Dearman. Does anyone have any info on what this is? Is it any good?

It's almost certainly a stencil horn - that is one made by one of the major manufacturers for another company/music shop to put their name on. Check http://www.saxpics.com/infonmisc/stencils.htm and http://www.drrick.com/index.html to find out more.
Dearman as far as I know originated in the U.K. and was manufactured up until the 1950's.
I have a "New Super Dearman" silver plated alto which is much better quality than most new intermediate types on the market. The tenor could be worth trying.
