Anybody have any experience with Buescher True Tone baris? What do you think? How do they compare with later Bueschers (Aristocrat, 400)? With Conn chu/12m?
Thanks
Dan
Have you tried using the forum search engine for "TrueTone bari" or similar? There has been considerable discussion on this topic.
Short answer: A good TrueTone bari is a great horn. I have compared them head to head with great examples of the range from vintage to modern and they held their own against Selmer Mk VI and Yanagisawa. If you can get by without a low A and modern mechanism, they are the best value out there.

I agree with Dr G. I have used a true tone bari for years and never thought about changing it. I find the ergo's a lot better then the early conns and the intonation is fine. I have tried many new one's yani's , yams , selmer etc and just didn't like the thinner sounding tone

MusicMedic, a bari player of no small reputation himself, says there's a certain serial range that tends to howl around low E. He said that there was very little to be done about it, and this is a guy who can fix just about anything.
