It is strange and surprising, that such rare saxophones are frequently sold on Ebay auction.

This spring the similar alto Super 21 was on sale. Photos of other alto Super 21 from Ebay are also presented on Saxpics.
Why are these saxophones on sale? Nobody wants to own such rare thing?

And still two nuances:
- Primitive guard on a bell. Why could not the designers of this saxophone make this guard similar like original guard Super 20?
- Nobody sells tenor Super 21.

There were never any tenor Super 21s, only altos.

I'm suprised that there are already three threads regarding these horns here (I keep trimming them in favor of the newer announcements :).

Mike, do you have some insight into the production of these horns? I had been led to believe that there were a couple altos, tenors and baris produced.

Since the last S21 was advertised, I've gotten an e-mail saying that all the S21 is is a "stock" UMI horn (the folks that owned King and several others -- now owned by Steinway [Selmer]) with a modified neck. I haven't really had a chance to investigate this further.

In any event, these are probably the rarest production horns that I've seen on eBay -- from a quantity standpoint, at least. They're not terribly old (seven years or so), so I I'm happy that they're still around.

Probably the rarest horn I've seen was one of the four or so Keilwerth low A basses, but they weren't put into production.

We've been down this road before. These things have showed up on ebay several times over the past few years.

Pete, your research and documentation is the best around:
