Leaving aside any purely musical considerations, the sax has to be the most sensual of musical instruments to play. from a strictly physiological point of view.
With most other instruments, the deliciousness of the vibrations are carried to the pleasure centres of the brain by the ear, supplemented by the fingers.
But with wind instruments, and the sax in particular, the entire head becomes part of the instrument. Part of the acoustic. And so the hit is much more direct. The pleasure centres themselves become aprt of the creative process. How much more sensual can you get?
If I can dare the analogy, it is the difference between cocaine hitting the entire sinus membrane, with a tablet taken after meals.
I do love the sax for other reasons, of course... There must be hundreds.
