"Search" excludes defining letters

In attempting to search "O-Embouchure", the "O" is omitted. Consequently the search returns "Embouchure". I found the same issue when searching certain mouthpieces.
Also, when searching "developing a personal saxophone sound" within quote marks, it appears all the words generate a return separately.
Any tips on more successful searching?

SOTW Forum makes use of vBulletin's "native mode" search which does not include full-text search. I.e. the quotation marks won't help any.

An alternative it is to switch to mySQL search, but the switch is not a very straightforward process. Have to understand what kind of performance hit we will take.

Also, I found following from vBulletin's Forum:
So I changed to fulltext search and now it doesn't work at all. Getting this error:
Database error in vBulletin 3.5.3:
Invalid SQL: Have to wait 'til I see a reply to that.
