I want to put in a good word for Sax Alley, a fine saxophone shop of which Timothy Glesmann is sole proprietor.

Tim does business out of Fort Collins, Colorado, and naturally most of his rep is regional, but he does good enough work at good enough prices that I have been happy to send my horn more than halfway across the country to him from greater New York.

My most recent job by Tim was a 1931 Martin Typewriter tenor sax which he chem-cleaned, de-dented, and overhauled into an A-1 player. All for less than $500 exclusive of shipping.

You can learn about his overhaul packages, rates, horns for sale, and what have you, at: http://www.frii.com/~saxalley/

I second Paul's props for Sax Alley 100%. I've had all of my horns expertly serviced and/or repaired by Tim and could not be happier. I recently purchased a 10M from him and have felt in sax heaven ever since. Not only did he put the horn in absolutely stellar playing condition, he even repadded the horn with treated pads -- and ended up not charging me for shipping at all.

Bottom line: you can't go wrong sending your horn to Tim, or buying one from him. Sax Alley is how a saxophone shop SHOULD be run!

He's a nice man to deal with and I got a surprisingly good deal on a new horn, that was worthwhile importing to the UK. I enjoyed speaking with and corresponding with Tim.

Tim has just overhauled my well beaten up MKVI, which I bought from e-bay. The sax now plays like a monster--slick--responsive--controlable and everything else that means to a good MKVI.
