I'm a Sop beginner, about 6 mounths, the problem is the moisture filling my mouth and then the mp.
I mean when I take breath some moisture goes from the mouth to the reed so I have to stop to clean the mp every time.
Is it a newbie issue or is there something I have to know?

Thanks

I don't know if this'll help or not but try and swallow all ya spit before you play. Maybe that's just my opinion. iono

It happens with me too. You just have to suck it up. :P

Yum. :?

I have a pretty wet embouchure also and I don't like it that (a) I'm constantly sucking spit out of my mouthpiece (I turn away from the mic first, so I don't gross the audience out) and (b) my left hand upper stack keys start drooling all over my left hand by the second set.

I use one of them big fluffy swabs when I'm done to try to suck the moisture off the pads but I'm not sure there's too much you CAN do.

Have you tried using a softer reed?

I happened to be at the dentist on one occasion and the hygenist mentioned that many people have varied levels of saliva. You probably salivate a lot regardless and dont know it in other situations. Most likely your gonna have to just learn to work with it. The idea of a softer reed may be good because if your working too hard to get out the notes the spit is gonna come out too. Also, consider with that softer reed an open mpc so it doesnt get that lovely spit clogged sound. Wet and soggily yours -sigmund
