I just returned to playing and I am not a professional. I am a hobbiest and play at my church occassionaly. I just returned from testing a Jupiter 969 and also a Selmer Super Action 80 and a Keilwerth SX 90. I think build quality is equal. The Jupiter is heavier. There is little (to me) difference in the sound of the three, and for sure not 2000 dollars difference.
Key action on all three was good, quick and easy. They Selmer was the best but I liked the Jupiter better than the JK.
Since we are now living in a world wide economy and many companies are using labor from different parts of the world, I think the only reason for such a huge difference in the prices of these three horns is the name. FOr me and what I need a horn for, I would be pleased to own the Jupiter/

jld621, please don't be offended, but I would suggest that "I just returned to playing...am a hobbiest and play at my church occassionaly." = "There is little (to me) difference in the sound of the three, and for sure not 2000 dollars difference. I think the only reason for such a huge difference in the prices of these three horns is the name."

I defend Jupiter regularly here but a Jupiter ain't a Keilwerth or a Selmer and other inexperienced players might get that impression by reading this thread. I also happen to agree with your conclusion that for you, the Jupiter will likely work just fine, so have at it and enjoy yourself. :)

and that is the reason I qualified my statements at the beginning with letting everyone know that I am not a professional. It was just an observation , an opinion, of one not a professional player.
