Grassi Professional Baritone

Well, of all the times to have your cashflow stagnant. :( I think that I have just missed out on a great opportunity to buy a great horn. It would have been my first Bari. A chap was advertising a Grassi baritone in good playing condition with the following inscriptions: 46626 Professional REG TRADEMARK ITALY: 17.433 C/70 USA: It sold this morning for $NZ1350.00. Is this the excellent horn that I think it may possibly be?? I'm already in tears........

Alright, I've just bought another project, this is probably the most battered horn I ever bought in my life but somehow it feels good . It is a Grassi Baritone, the only ID is a SN 190XX but I can't see any other type of description. It looks like a copy of a Selmer Mark VI bari, and ,as far as sound, I played a little and was favorably impressed but the state it is in......it is going to take quite some time and money to buy the attentions of a good tech, still it will be, I hope a good player.

It is very oxidated and has few small dents, but the body seems to be straight and although it clattlers and rattles the pads are not in a very bad state and appear to be sealing (I will insert a leak light in it later on).

It had a powerful voice and easy blowing. Maybe the neck has had an extention or a repair in time but if I am am favorably impressed I might even spend money in a new neck for this old chap.

I see that mountainman has experience with the professional Baris . I don't know if my qualifies under this category but it has a beautiful tone.
