The newer mod won't let you upload an animated avatar. I think if you had uploaded one before the change it still does it's annoying thing. I'm with you!

Edit: If your thinking of the one I'm thinking of.............I've had enough COWBELL!

What, you didn't like that one?

I thought it was some pretty amazing animation.

I like it too, but I see where it could cause issues with a slow connection.

I agree, and also imagine if everyone had an animated Avatar, it could cause distraction, make the forum difficult to read - Some people are more easily distracted by such thing.

There is always a way to lock avatars in the user CP Panel but it's true that avatars can be fun too and it'd be a shame to dis-activate avatars just because of a few users with a bothering, animated avatar - Which leads me to the following question: Are there forum members who have an avatar that's as annoying as the one in Mike's example? - If so, let us (the staff know) and one of us will talk this person into changing his avatar.

Bill your avatar isn't annoying but it's tacky!! :D

No, you still cannot upload or link to an animated avatar. I was just getting in a dig at my ol' buddy Bill Mecca.

However, I do have an issue with JfW (http://www.saxontheweb.net/vbulletin/member.php?u=11391)'s cowbell avatar...

They could hurt the site but I would hate to lose everyones avatar, so one case at a time sounds good to me

No one is asking for avatars to be taken away. I was referring to ANIMATED avatars.

Don't get too caught up in this, folks. This is not a serious thread.

LOL! I could hardly wait. Wait a minute. Maybe you could put on a nun's costume and... Oh, never mind.

My take on animated avatars is mixed.

For example, the drummer fractures me. On the other hand, I have a hard time reading anything in the vicinity because of that very reaction. So my reaction to such an avatar isn't negative, it's just that for me it's counterproductive and I could concentrate a little better without it.

Won't kill me one way or the other, but if there were several on the same page, or if they enjoy the same popularity as the recent run on posting photos, I think I'd need a 'lude before opening the SOTW pages.

LOL. It took me a second. Good one!

(...but I thought a nun's habit was whacking school kid's fingers with a ruler!)
