I have acquired a silver selmer alto sax. The bell is engraved with Selmer American Elkhart, Indiana. The are numbers and letters on the neck. There is a set of numbers under that a letter another set of numbers and under that another letter. I am not sure which number would be the serial number but the first set of numbers is 115xxxx and the second set is 45xxx. I was wondering if anyone may know what model this is??

Well 45k is a super action from 1950 and 115k is a mk 6 from 1964. If its a selmer paris model the number with the letter M as a prefix is the correct serial number but if its a selmer USA model i wouldn't know what the model was

Dakota,

I posted an answer (at least a 'my opinion' answer) to your question on the Selmer Sax forum so I won't repeat it here.

Dave,

It appears to be a 1920's Buescher made Selmer American Alto.

Tharuff: Have aquired the same silver alto as Dakota 72 describes but cannot find your detailed reply to his question. Serial number is 34XXX. Same 115XXX above it. Bell is engraved "Selmer American Elkhart , Ind. USA" but it is definitely a Buescher. Could you forward me your detailed thread as I have been unable to find anything else on this horn.

Split bell keys?

Yes, split bell keys. Also has a G# to G key on the side which I haven't seen before.

That tended to be a King feature where the G# pad is on the side.
