What kind of sound would a jazz mpc give my YTS-23 tenor sax?

Jazzy.

There are many, many different sorts of jazz mouthpieces - some with huge baffles that will give you a very bright sound, some with huge chambers that will give you a very dark sound, some with small-ish tip openings that will be easy to control, some with large tip openings that will allow for a great deal of personal expression at the expense of control...

And of course, your setup is only a small part of determining your sound. What's much, much more important is what's going on with your chops.

You can achieve a great jazz tone by simply spending countless hours emulating players you like, rather than spending countless hours searching for that "jazz" mouthpiece, which will only slightly give you a jazzy tone. This isn't to say that you are never going to change mouthpieces, but you shouldn't expect a piece of equipment to fulfill all of your needs. Instead, find what feels comfortable to you, then work from there.

I have recently joined a band, and there I was with my new Jody Jazz mp feeling like I am the bee's knees.:)

In comes another sax player and after sorting himself out starts to blow this awesome sound. Wow methinks to myself. Whats he blowing.????

Only a Yamaha 4c that came with his sax. Bump to earth I came , the Jody Jazz has been laid to one side while I try to master my Yamaha 5c.:|

Alpina, I play on a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece that came with my Antigua alto. You can check out what I sound like by going to my myspace music page linked in my sig ("One for Daddy-O") is the tune.

I've heard many players on very basic gear sound better than players who have a huge collection of high-end mouthpieces.

I also use a 4C mouthpiece in my Conn Alto 24M, aside from its original MPC, and I sound good. The reed I mate to my 4C is a La Voz medium. See, in my country we do not have much choices of what sax, mouthpiece and reed to buy, yet we have a lot of good sax players here.

My sax teacher of many years plays whatever mpc came with the instrument. When he is playing classical, the sound is classical; when playing jazz, the sound is unmistakingly jazz. He has explained to me that it is all about technique, including (not the complete list) throat opening, tightness or looseness of embouchure, diaphrgmatic support, amount of mpc taken in mouth, etc.

And, of course, he is a musical genius.
