Any update news for the Ref 54 alto ?

One source is telling me July will be release date and that after my mark-up would go for around $3500 where another source is telling me August/September and that after my markup would be around $4000.

So we will see.

Their description of it is quite funny though:

Selmer Reference 54 Alto Sax

Inspired by the Mark VI model released in 1954, Selmer presents the Reference 54 tenor saxophone. A Tenor saxophones that integrates the Mark VI's legendary acoustic characteristics with innovative modern keywork

We will see. Its funny as well on the new model of Yanagisawa Curved soprano (SC991) WW&BW is using the picture & price of the SC901 as well.

I love misinformation!!!

US$3,500 seem to be over-charge. I hope this new alto can have better price. Let say within US$ 3,000.

I went to the banner at the page top for the paris WW&BW, saw the rundown on the horn. If I were to be in the market for a new alto, I would have to try it. I like details like a round pearl for high F, old-style engraving, etc. I now play a Selmer USA 'Omega' alto (1982) that I am completely satisfied with, being a tenor man, but if anything happened to it.....

While it is a lot I agree, Selmer hasnt been known as a "budget" saxophone.

When they released the Referrence Tenors, they cost dealers originally $4800... Now they can be bought for about a Thousand dollars less by Customers.

I expect Selmer to release the Alto at a high price and then move the price down. Now if it comes in and sells for $3500 to start, I dont think that it will be too high since the Series III sells for around $3000 currently. New models Always cost more when they come out.
