View Full Version : Trade gold plated SML Rev D alto for Bari??

I may post something in the Marketplace section, but I thought I'd put this before the SML faithful directly. I have a 1953 gold plated Rev D alto in excellent condition. (Plating is worn in a few spots. Overall the plating is about 80+ %.) Recent repad/overhaul (nylon dome resos). Got it as a backup to my Mark VI alto. I pull it out as a change of pace horn now and then, but it's not getting as much play as it should.

Meanwhile, I'm giving serious thought to getting a bari, and would consider a trade of the SML alto for a modern Low-A bari. I actually keep pretty busy on alto and tenor, but only recently I have started to receive calls to play bari. Soooo.... If I get an offer I can't refuse for a bari, I'd consider making the swap. If not, I don't feel I could go wrong haging onto the SML.

Just floating this out there to see if anyone has any thoughts.

Thanks,
SteveS

Well, I went out and bought a nice Buescher 400 bari (thanks, Paul Coats!), so the trade idea is out. But I have decided to sell my very fine backup alto, the '53 Rev D gold plated alto, to "pay for" the bari and a less expensive backup alto. Please see my for sale notice in the Marketplace forum.

This really is a very fine example of a gold plated Rev D, so if you are looking for one, please drop me a line.

Thanks,
SteveS
