Which horn would be the best value, in terms of sound, quality..ect ect ect?
A 1914 TT or a Big "B" Aristocrat. I finally narrowed my search down to two horns and have to make a desicion like today.
thanks for all your comments on my previous post. I've learned a bunch!

Assuming you're talking altos, I'd go with the Big B. It should be a very versatile horn in different situations, and require less messing around to play with great intonation and response. Go get it...

I agree with Paulwl...I have both a Big B and a True-tone alto. The True-Tone has a sweet sound, but the Big B can be a monster. Price can be a factor though. True-Tones are generally cheaper that Big B's.

so in your opinion would a TT be better suited for classical Music or is it a very good all around horn? I'm looking for a horn to use in many capacities.

Some type the T-Ts as classical horns...I don't like to. They're actually good all-arounders, just need more experimentation as far as mouthpieces and tuning. Some don't find that worth the tradeoff in price or "older" sound.

I'm a big fan of the TT. Like Paul, I think the TT sometimes gets unfairly stereotyped. But, 1914 would be too early for me. Given the choice of the two horns, I'd go with the B.

But surely you remember that "1914" is not necessarily 1914. It's the year of the patent stamp on every T-T (and a lotta Crats) made since.

Aha! You're right Paul! I was out cutting grass, the sun got to my brain, and I forgot about the patient number.
Blazenu -- Can you give us the serial numbers on these two horns? It would help us to get on the same page.
