(I posted this on the "soprano" page before I realized it might be better here . . . )

I'm not a player, which may be painfully obvious below . . .

I came into possession of a soprano sax, inscribed Conn Pan American Special. Underneath it has the serial #95xxx. Mouthpiece is a Selmer Bundy.

It looks to be a . . . shall we say . . . "tinkerer's delight." The silver is tarnished, all pearls are missing from the keys, definitely needs new corks and pads. Two minor dents at the base of the bell.

Can anyone provide me with any more information about this sax? When it was made, what key it plays in, what the musical worth is if rehabbed? (Duh!)

Thank you!

I just got a Pan American soprano sax too, but I don't recall it reading "Special". I wrote about it in a post further down somewhere I believe. You'll find more information there as well as on saxpics's web page (which I'm pretty sure is just www.saxpics.com). I assume he won't mind my mentioning it and will correct me if I have the URL wrong. :)

I believe some of the Pan Ams never had finger pearls to begin with. Maybe yours is one of these?
