I fought it out with a Weltklang for a year. Learned a lot, but I just picked up a YTS-Tenor. Well, let me tell you, this is a different animal. Some of you guys may be laughing, but I might as well have a Selmer or Conn or whatever everyone is always debating because the difference between my little 25 and what I had is like the difference between a saxophone and dirt.

I'm getting used to the pinky cluster, but otherwise this is a great instrument. I can get a really breathy tone if I want it or a round tone if I want it... Only it's really, really loud, which is a problem in Warsaw.

Anyway, now that I've learned my lesson, I'm going to search for a normal mouthpiece. A guy has an Otto Link 5 for sale... Does that sound good?

I see guys using Otto Links from 5* to 8*. Links are fun to play if that's the sound/tone you're looking for. Find a website with a mouthpiece comparison chart - that compares mps tip openings for different brands. There is a difference in the tip opening of a 5 and 5* in the Links. I believe the 5* is between the 5 and 6. In some brands the star indicates the same tip opening, but a different facing curve on the mps. Good luck to you and your saxophone playing. :D

A #5 facing on a Link tenor mpc is supposed to a .080" tip opening. That's pretty small. I had a #5 rubber Link that I used on my tenor when I played at church and wanted a nice round, quiet sound. Only problem was that it was too quiet, and didn't project well. But I really did enjoy playing that mpc.

It all depends on what you're used to. A #5 Link could work out really well for you. Try it and see.
